Common Experiences

Registered Nurses often provide the wrap-around care for persons receiving MAID and their family. We use the term WRAP-AROUND CARE to describe the continuous holistic, family-centered care throughout the MAID process and into the bereavement period for which nurses are responsible. Nurses feel a profound sense of moral responsibility for a good MAID death.

IT IS NOT UNCOMMON FOR NURSES TO FEEL ANXIOUS about getting all the details right for this brief moment in time. Details that must be worked out include:

when and where the MAID death will occur

who should be present

and the rituals or practices that are important to that person.
